According to the reports, budget airline easyJet will add more flights to the country from Robin Hood Airport, near Doncaster in South Yorkshire.
The carrier has announced recently in a press conference that its new routes will go to Barcelona and Palma from April 2010, along with several other European nations.
While talking to reporters, UK regional manager for the airlines Paul Simmonds said, “By operating services from Doncaster Sheffield Airport, easyJet can now tap in to the attractive Yorkshire catchments area and major conurbations such as Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley Rotherham, Hull, Worksop and Wakefield.”
The move could help more people from the South Yorkshire and east Midlands areas to get to Spain easily, should they desire to spend either in the island attractions of Majorca or the city life of Barcelona.
According to the statement issued by the airline this week, Spain is likely to see large numbers of Britons visiting over Christmas and the New Year.
Further, it said, “Barcelona, Malaga and Alicante are among the top ten destinations for those keen to enjoy the festive period overseas.”
